Space Dream Factory and Warner Bros. Interactive announce the licensing of “Babylon 5” video game titles!

MOSCOW, RUSSIA; BURBANK, CA — Space Dream Factory LLC and Warner Bros. Interactive, a division of Warner Bros. Entertainment, announce today that they have entered into a licensing agreement to develop videogames based on the hit TV series “Babylon 5”.

As part of the agreement, Russian developer Space Dream Factory LLC will develop videogames based on the TV series “Babylon 5” and any spin-off series such as the upcoming “Babylon 5: The Memory of Shadows”. Space Dream Factory licensed the rights to develop “Babylon 5” videogames from Warner Bros. Interactive.

“Babylon 5” is one of television’s best-known science-fiction properties, garnering the genre’s best ratings in the United States as the No.1 series on the Sci-Fi Channel. It is broadcast in more than 60 other countries as well. Its popularity also has fueled a successful series of DVD releases of the show’s episodes.

“’Babylon 5’ is the first series of games we’re announcing as part of our agreement with Warner Bros.,” — said Oleg Petrov, SDF’s Executive Director. “’Babylon 5’ enjoys phenomenal devotion from viewers around the globe and we expect the game to appeal to those faithful viewers and the gaming market as a whole. We think ’Babylon 5’ is a perfect premise for great games. We’ll be announcing more details about the specifics of our first Babylon 5 game in coming months.”

Petrov said, “’Babylon 5’ is perfectly tailored for translation into videogames. We are proud to work with Warner Bros. Interactive on such a big franchise. ’Babylon 5’ is one of the most popular science-fiction TV series worldwide, and its story and surroundings fit perfectly with the videogame audience. Together with Warner Bros. Interactive, our goal is to translate the success of the TV series to the game industry.”

Warner Bros. Interactive’s Kevin Tsujihara said Space Dream Factory is a particularly good choice as the developer of an important Warner Bros. franchise.

“The high level of passion and creative energy they bring to game production is well matched by keen appreciation for the strength of the ’Babylon 5’ Universe and its viewership,” — said Kevin Tsujihara, Warner Bros Interactive’s Executive Vice President, Corporate Business Development and Strategy. “We look forward to a successful collaboration that will bring forward a series of game titles that match the power and quality of the franchise.”
